Fire Protection Services provides specialized fire protection engineering and inspection services for schools and major public band buildings within First Nation communities.
These services assist First Nations to minimize risk and protect and conserve life and property. These fire protection services are also intended to safeguard the financial interests of the Government of Canada.
Fire Protection Services are offered to First Nations communities upon the request and/or approval of the Chief and Band Council or their designate.
For schools: every 2.5 years.
For other major public band buildings: every 5.0 years.
Limited to: band offices, day care facilities, fire stations, community centers, teacherages (teacher residences), student residences, sports centers or gyms, arenas, indoor swimming pools, and community drop in or wellness centers.
After engineering reviews or fire inspections, a deficiency report, including our observations and recommendations, is produced and sent to the Chief and Band Council for their information and action.
